The commemoration of the Bear River Massacre will be held on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m., at the memorial site off Highway 91, approximately four miles northwest of Preston, just past the Bear River bridge.
The memorial is usually an opportunity for the tribal members to speak about that fateful day when some 300 Shoshone Indians were killed by soldiers led by Patrick Edward Connor from Fort Douglas, Utah. (See the full story in The Preston Citizen.)
