The West Side Pirates went up against the Malad Dragons and the Bear Lake Bears this last week.
They came out with a win against Malad with a final score of 62-50.
They started the game strong with a lot of momentum which set the pace for the game. It was a really critical win for the upcoming district tournament.
The strongest point was the fourth quarter where the team worked well together to pull out the victory. JD Cook came out of the game with 25 points for the Pirates.
Cook was frustrated at the beginning of the game, but he didn’t quit trying and ended up hitting some big threes in the fourth quarter.
Mason Lemmon had 10 points, and Dylan Turnbow 13 for the Pirates.
The game against Bear Lake wasn’t as successful. During the third quarter West Side got down by 17, but later on pulled within two points in the fourth quarter.
Senior JD Cook said, “We couldn’t pull out a win, but we fought really hard and almost beat a really good team after playing three terrible quarters.”
The Pirates are hoping to bring home a win this Wednesday as they travel to Marsh Valley.
