What a difference a year makes! This past December set a record for the second driest on record with only .12 of an inch of moisture. That compares with December 2010 being one of the wettest with 3.19 inches.
King Smith, who keeps official records for the National Weather Service, said the area set a high temperature record on Dec. 30 at 52 degrees. The previous record was in 1986 with 46 degrees, according to Smith.
“And on Dec. 29, we tied a record in Preston with a high of 52 degrees,” he said. (See the full story in The Preston Citizen.)
