Preston City, Franklin County, state, and federal offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Area banks and post office branches will also be closed that day. However, most retailers will remain open.
The Franklin County landfill will be closed that day as well. Garbage normally collected in the county on Jan. 16 will be picked up the next day, on Jan. 17. For additional information contact landfill personnel at 852-2113.
There will be no trash collection in Preston City on Monday. Garbage regularly picked up that day will also be gathered on Tuesday, according to city officials.
Schools will be open on Monday in both the Preston and West Side School districts. The Franklin County High School will also be open Monday.
