The Preston High School Student Executive Council handed one of their own a check for over $1,650 Thursday, before the end of school. The money was to help fellow student Alyssa Buckingham, a junior at the high school, and her family. The Buckingham’s barely escaped a devastating fire that destroyed their home and all of their belongings, in the early morning of Dec. 15.

“We literally got out with the clothes on our back, except for one of the kids who got out of the tub and crawled into bed to get warm and fell asleep. He didn’t even have any clothes on when he got out,” said Brenda Buckingham, Alyssa’s mother.  9See the full story in The Preston Citizen.)
