Preston City, Franklin County, state, and federal offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26, in celebration of the Christmas holiday, which falls on Sunday this year.
The post office plans to operate on a reduced schedule on Saturday, Dec. 24. The lobby will be open from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Postmaster Val Porter said full delivery will be made that day. The post office will also close on Monday, Dec. 26, and reopen on a regular schedule on Dec. 27.
The Franklin County Landfill will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. The facility will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26, and garbage normally collected that day will be picked up on Tuesday. The landfill will operate on a regular schedule on Dec. 27.

There will be no trash collection in Preston City on Monday, Dec. 26. Garbage regularly picked up that day will be gathered on Tuesday, Dec. 27, according to city officials.
Both Franklin County and Preston City offices will open on a normal schedule on Tuesday, Dec. 27. The University of Idaho Extension office and the USDA Service Center will close on Dec. 26 and reopen the next day.
The Franklin County Senior Citizens Center will also be closed on Monday, Dec. 26. Any orders for rolls, pies, and cheesecake need to be picked up prior to Dec. 24, according to officials.
Public schools in the West Side School District will close after classes on Wednesday, Dec. 21. The Preston School District will close after classes on Thursday, Dec. 22. Both districts will remain closed through Jan. 2 for the Christmas break. Classes will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
