Dan Buckingham walks through what was left of his family’s home, the morning of Dec. 15, after a post midnight blaze. The family was in temporary living quarters as of Monday, Dec. 19.

A Preston family escaped injury early Thursday morning after their house was destroyed by fire.

Dan Buckingham and 12 members of his family (three adults and 10 children) were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors which enabled them to get out of the burning structure unharmed, according to Franklin County Fire District Fire Marshal Scott Martin.

He said the fire at 125 S. 300 West was reported at 12:36 a.m. and 17 local firefighters with four engines responded. Both city and county officers helped with traffic control, he added.  (See the full story in The Preston Citizen.)
