H.S. choirs in Christmas mode

This is a busy time of year for the vocal music students at the two major high schools in Franklin County. Preston High School vocal instructor Paul Seare said the Preston vocal groups and band are planning holiday concerts beginning with the Christmas Concert series at the Logan Tabernacle they performed at last Thursday evening. Wayne Manning, the band instructor, also had some of his instrumentalist participating in the Logan series. The A-capella, Woman’s and Jazz Choir were among the vocal performances at the tabernacle.

The season concert will cover all genres, renaissance to jazz, and a little bit of Rock and Roll. Their Christmas Concert will be Dec. 14, at 7 p.m., in the PHS Auditorium.

PHS vocal groups will travel to Salt Lake City on Thursday, Dec. 8, to  perform for the Temple Square Concert Series at the Assembly Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Sariah Seare, Cory Swainston, Melissa Shaffer and Andrew Robinson will all sing solos in the performances.

West Side High School Vocal and instrumental groups including the guitar class will be performing at the Dahle Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Jaron Packer, the instrument and guitar teacher, will also be the choral director for the concert.

Packer said their music will have a majority of traditional Christmas music with few surprises.
