The local Soil Conservation District (SCD) has embarked on a wood pellet manufacturing enterprise ultimately designed to reduce material destined for the county landfill.
The operation, Bear River Pellets, has also created two part-time and one full-time position at the facility on West Oneida in Preston.
“We started things up the middle of September,” said Scott Blake, with the Franklin County Soil Conservation District. “The timing was probably a bit awkward because folks with wood pellet stoves are needing product and we’re still working the ‘bugs’ out of the equipment and operation.” (See the full story in The Preston Citizen.)
