An $80 million multi-purpose horse sports complex planned for Franklin County is one step closer to reality with the announced purchase of 167 acres of ground on the south edge of Franklin.

Earnest E. Bleinberger, principal of Strategy 5 LLC Consulting, announced to The Citizen this week his organization has completed the purchase of the land within Franklin City limits from Nebraska Land National Bank.

“The development concept includes: boarding and training facilities, a hotel that has access to stable facilities for horses being transported, commercial sites, agricultural retail, restaurant(s), an equine hospital, an indoor arena purposely built for television and the internet, upscale condos for horse enthusiasts, and cultural/educational components,” he said.

“At build-out, the project is expected to result in approximately $80 million of private capital investment and generate significant positive economic and fiscal impacts including new property tax revenues paid by developers, jobs, small business opportunities, and spending by visitors in the local economy.”  (See the full story in The Preston Citizen.)
