Senior running back Tyler White hangs onto the football just prior to getting “nailed” by an American Falls defender on Friday.
West Side just about had the Beavers. They held them the whole game until the last quarter when they were scored on with four minutes left.
The Pirates tried to score one more time to win, but American Falls had too much momentum and seemed to put a stop to anything West Side tried to run.
The final score of 16-14 did not give West Side the ending they had hoped for. Countless penalties against the Beavers early on gave the Pirates the jump start they knew they would need in order to go up against larger American Falls.
“We knew they were going to be tough competition and if we wanted to win this game,” Brett Thornley, said.
This week the Pirates have a bye.
