DAYTON – Pirates started the season with a big comeback.
The West Side Pirates started their football season with a close game that ended in favor for them with a 14-13 win. The game started out slow throughout the first half for West Side. It definitely showed on the scoreboard as the pirates were down 13-0 to the Firth Cougars. The Cougars had a few long runs, including a 75 yard punt return that put six points on the board.
During the second half the pirates finally seemed to pull some momentum out and started finishing plays and other things that just weren’t falling for them in the first two quarters. With just under four minutes left Jon O’Brien pulled in a good pass, from quarterback JD Cook, that put them in good position on the 25 yard line.
