On Friday, July 4, 2014, Dayton’s 100th anniversary as an incorporated city was celebrated, as well as the 200th anniversary of the unveiling of the “Star Spangled Banner.”
Both events, particularly the national anthem and its patriotic value, were highlighted during the patriotic program held in the Dahle Fine Arts Center.
Glenn Beck spoke Saturday, July 5, to add a special touch to Independence Day.
To kick off the event Friday there was a flag raising, fun run, and a pancake breakfast.
For the parade, in recognition of the 100th anniversary of Dayton’s incorporation as a city, Clyde Palmer was selected as Grand Marshall. He has lived in Dayton for many years and at one time played the organ for That Famous Preston Night Rodeo.
