In a unique fashion, the Franklin County Theatre Arts Council has two shows opening on the same evening this Friday, June 13, at 7 p.m. at the Worm Creek Opera House. The productions continue through Saturday and Monday.
This year’s summer musicals are “The Jungle Book Kids” and “Bugsy Malone Jr.” Both are being directed by Katie Smith and Anna Beth Olson. Both Olson and Smith have years of experience in polishing the performances of young actors and actresses.
The Jungle Book Kids cast members are from ages 8-to-10 years old. The cast members for Bugsy Malone Jr. are from 11-to-15 years old.
“The Jungle Book Kids appeals to younger children and Bugsy Malone Jr. is for teens,” Olsen said. “Both will be performed together on the same night to make it easier for the audience to see two great musicals.”
The plays are a opportunity to see the remodeled facility and see what the “buzz” is about.
Jungle Book Kids features Trey Smith as Baloo and Keenan Janke as Mowgli. Bugsy Malone Jr. is set in the 1930s.
The Bugsy Malone Jr. cast members include Allie Jensen, Tallulah; Keziah Holt, Fat Sam; Ryan Petterborg, Bugsy; and Paige Smith, Blousey Brown. Also featured are, Jackson Waechtler, Katie Ludlow and Allie Jensen, among others.
Tickets can be purchased from any cast member or at the door.
