The third annual “Mugs and Banana” drag night will be held in Preston on June 7 from 7:30- 10:30 p.m.
Bruce Jeppesen and Val Preece are organizing the event. The first drag night was held two years ago in Tremonton. Last year it was held in Brigham City.
Jeppesen, who graduated from Bear River High School, said he thought school reunions were boring and was asked what it would take to make things more interesting. He said he came up with the idea of organizing a drag night that featured classic and muscle cars.
“The first one we had was in Tremonton. Then we moved it last year to Brigham City. This year’s location is in Preston. Next year it is planned for Garland,” said Jeppesen. “We hold them in smaller towns and that keeps the cars close to home, like in the movie ‘American Graffitti.’”
Car shows are a good way to display classic and restored vehicles. But what makes them great are when the cars are pulling in and out of the show areas. That’s why we thought a drag night would provide something a little different, he said.
Preece said there are no rules, no trophies and no prizes.
