This year the Gleed family, who organize the annual activity, decided to open up a design contest to advertise the Fun Run to high school students.

They asked the same students to help come up with a theme for the event.

“We let our eight-year-old son Austin, who is Type 1 diabetic, decide which one he liked the best,” Lisa Geed said.

Preston High School student Megan Steadman holds her winning design of a pirate ship. She won $100 for her entry for the Fair Fun Run to raise awareness for Type 1 Diabetes. The event is organized by the Gleed family. Standing next to Steadman is eight-year-old Austin Gleed, who has the malady.
