Franklin County Commissioners authorized this week the hiring of a fourth, full-time employee at the county’s dispatch center.
The move has been under consideration for several months. Sheriff Dave Fryar has explained the need for another full-time dispatcher to commissioners and Preston City officials in recent weeks.
Fryar said one of the obligations he has felt since being elected sheriff is to provide better training and have full-time dispatchers.
“We currently have tremendous, hard working, diligent dispatchers. But because of liability in today’s world, I feel we need to have full-time, career-oriented individuals working in our dispatch center,” he said.
