West Side’s Business Professionals of America team returned last week from the National Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Ind., and placed in the top 10. Competing there was the parliamentary procedure team consisting of Brennon Henderson, AJ Frankman, Tyrel Garner, Hayes Campbell, Whitney Drollette, Derek Larson, Lane Meek and Jarren Miller.
The conference took place from April 30 to May 4, and during that time the BPA team competed, attended conference sessions and toured Indianapolis.
BPA at West Side is a strong program, despite little recognition at the school. For those eight to go to nationals is a huge honor and they added to that honor by placing as high as they did in their competition, which by no means is an easy feat. They had to compete against top teams from each of the states.
“These students placed an extraordinary effort into the program this year,” said Vance Reeder, the business teacher at West Side and advisor of the BPA. “I am happy that they could be rewarded by standing on that national stage in front of over 5,000 people to be recognized for their efforts. I would like to thank all the students and parents who made this year great and helped grow the program at West Side.”
