Preston Golf and Country Club will be hosting a Chicago tournament this Friday, May 16.
Tee times will from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The cost for non-members is $50 and the cost for members will be $40 and does not include cart, according to John Van Vleet, general manager and head pro at the local course.
He said the Chicago format is a points’ tournament. The player’s handicap is subtracted from 39 to get their quota. Players then receive points based on their score for each hole. No points are awarded for double bogey or worse.
One point is awarded for a bogey, two points are awarded for a par, four points are awarded for a birdie, and eight points are awarded for an eagle. Players total their points at the end and subtract their quota to determine their score, he explained.
Players that get more points than their quota will have positive scores, while those failing to reach their quota will have negative scores. The highest score wins. Flights will be determined by entries, he said.
Players may register by contacting the pro shop at 208-852-2408.
