West Side’s softball season came to an end this past week after five games. The Pirates started the district tournament on Monday in Malad and finished it in Malad on Thursday with second place. They played West Jefferson in a state play-in game on Saturday.
They first played third-seed Soda on Monday. At one point during the game, the Pirates were behind 10-3. But they pulled themselves together in the final two innings to capture a 15- 10 win over the Cardinals.
The Pirates then advanced to play against the first-seed Dragons. The week before, West Side lost to the Dragons 10-9. The Pirates lost Monday night’s game.
All three teams met on Thursday in Malad to finish the tournament. Picking up where they left off, the Pirates were able to secure an 11-8 win over Soda. Then they met Malad again and lost 16-6, after the 10-run rule applied in the sixth inning.
