West Side’s track team competed in its final regular season meet last week at Firth. The West Side boys’ team lost to Firth 194.5 to 176.5, while the girls’ team took third.
The fifth district tournament is this week in Soda Springs on Tuesday and Wednesday at 4 and 1 p.m., respectively.
Girls’ team hurdler Taya Nash said, “When it gets to district, people are going to be surprised how much we’ve improved as a team.”
The girls’ team had three first place victories at the meet. The 4×100 relay team with Breanna Lind, Nash, Addie Cook and Lauren Porter beat Firth. Porter also won both the shot put and discus with marks of 33’08” and 111’07”.
The West Side boys had six wins. Zach Hatch crossed the finish line before his teammate, Ethan Porter, to win the 800m race. Brandon Olsen also won the 1600m. Hurdler Triston Cox placed first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.96, and took second in the 300m.
