Preston farmer Carl Swainston was inducted into the 2014 Eastern Idaho Agriculture Hall of Fame in Idaho on Friday, March 21, for his long-time service to the agriculture community. The selection committee spoke highly of Swainston’s tireless efforts and 38 years of work on the Preston- Whitney Irrigation Company (PWIC) and 16 years as president. And the impact his leadership had on agricultural producers served by that organization.
Also noted were his service on the City of Preston Planning and Zoning Board, serving as a board member of the Western Dairy Cooperative Incorporated and 14 years as a local advisor for Farm Credit Services in Preston.
“Along with his wife, Julie Swainston, they have lived and raised their family of eight children, managed their operation and served the people of their community with the principles of diversification, sound judgment and solid integrity,” a press release stated.
