At the state competition Taya Nash and Whitnee Smart were honored for earning Torch awards. In order to earn this, students have to complete various activities in seven categories: leadership, service, cooperation, knowledge, friendship, love, hope, faith and patriotism.

“Torch awards aren’t big awards that you go to BPA for, but it is one that looks good on resumes and for college applications,” said Smart. “I’m glad I was able to get it.”
