DAYTON – West Side’s softball team started its season last week with three home games and defeated Marsh Valley. The Pirates lost to American Falls and Sky View.
This week the team has two games. On Thursday they will play at home against Firth. They will play Marsh Valley in an away contest on Saturday. The games will begin at 4 p.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
Tuesday was a rough start for the Pirates. After getting up early against American Falls, the Pirates had one really bad inning. West Side lost 17-8.
Sky View was quick to establish their dominance on Wednesday. After the first inning the score was 6-0 for the Bobcats. Sky View won 16-8.
The Pirates found what they were looking for on Saturday. They got ahead early and they kept it that way. The game was not even a complete five innings because the Pirates hit the 10-point mercy rule in the fifth and won 18-8.
“It’s great to be playing softball. We have a bunch of really awesome girls this year and I think we can do really well,” said senior Kelsi Chugg, who plays left field.
