A decision on an outside water connection at 1188 S. 800 E. was taken under advisement by the Preston City Council Monday.

Kelle Alder sought clarification on whether a water connection at 1188 S. 800 E. belongs to his barn or the house on property owned by Ruby Alder.

City Attorney Clyde Nelson (via teleconference) advised the council to adhere to Preston Municipal Code 13.10. It outlines water connections outside the city limits.

The code states only those connections designated on an official city map are allowed outside of city limits and no further connections shall be permitted.

These connections are appurtenant to the property at which the water connection is located and cannot be transferred, conveyed or severed from the property, nor shall they be made across a public road or extended more than five hundred feet. They are limited in number, according to the code.
