Several telephone scams are circulating in the area that law enforcement officials want people to be aware of.

Sheriff Dave Fryar said he is aware of some residents who have received calls from someone who says they represent Microsoft.

“They say there are problems with the person’s computer and ask for a credit card number so they can fix it,” he said. “We continue to see the ones where people receive a check in the mail and are asked to cash it, but send the overage back to the sender.”

The Bannock County Sheriff’s office recently reported two phone scams in the Pocatello area. The first is apparently a missed call from what appears to be an international number.
