A 21-year-old Logan woman died Saturday afternoon in Franklin Basin, east of Franklin, from injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident.

Franklin County Sheriff Dave Fryar said Raysha Renee Nielsen, of Logan, apparently hit a tree and suffered severe injuries.

“At 3:37 p.m. Franklin County Dispatch received a call regarding a snowmobile accident in the Franklin Basin area in Franklin County. Dispatch was told a female adult had hit a tree and suffered severe injuries,” said Fryar.

“Witnesses at the scene stated that Nielsen was a passenger on a snowmobile. The party she was with was returning to an unloading area after a day of riding. While the driver of the snowmobile was making a turn, the snowmobile suddenly accelerated and hit a tree. According to witnesses, Nielsen was not responsive after the accident.”
