The Greater Preston Business Association held its annual banquet Thursday night at the Robinson Building in Preston. The evening was to celebrate the year in business and hand out awards.
The Preston Citizen recognized Linrose resident D.A. Nash as its J. Walter Ross/ Wayne D. Bell Community Service Award recipient. The award, named after the former Preston mayors and longtime Citizen owners, recognizes a local resident for years of community service.
The GPBA recognized Worm Creek Opera House as its business of the year for their continued efforts to improve the facility. Several members of their board were on hand as the award was presented.
David Cox, of Lewiston State Bank, handed over the reigns of the organization to Alan White, owner of KACH radio. White told the audience of about 100 people he had four goals for the upcoming year. Goals he hoped would help build up local businesses. He admonished locals to “Shop Local First,” when looking for goods and services.
