Preston’s boys’ basketball team won two important games this past week. They defeated Pocatello at home and Blackfoot on the road. In such a competitive district, where many teams are only separated by one or two games, every win is important.
The Indians will host Minico on Friday in a final season game and will honor seniors from the team and senior cheerleaders before the game. Varsity will play at 7:30 p.m. and JV/ freshmen at 6 p.m.
At Blackfoot on Saturday, the Indians knew it would be a challenge to win on the road. They beat the Broncos at home by just one point earlier in the season and had just played the night before.
Though it was close, Preston came out on top 55- 51.
Blackfoot had the advantage in the first quarter where they led 19-16. Austin Smellie kept the Indians in it with 14 of those 16 points. Preston really stepped it up in the second. They held Blackfoot to just four points and took a 29-23 lead to the locker room.
