West Side’s boys’ basketball team split its two games last week. The Pirates won on the road on Wednesday against Aberdeen 55-49.
On Friday the Firth Cougars, currently ranked number one in the state 2A division, came to Dayton and took it to West Side 64-45.
This week will be the end of the Pirates’ regular season. They will finish with home games against Soda and Malad. Soda’s game will be on Wednesday and Malad’s on Friday.
The Pirates were down by three points at the end of the first quarter against Aberdeen at 14-11, but they held the Tigers to only four points in the second stanza, while scoring 16 points. West Side was up by nine at the half.
Aberdeen started to close the gap in the fourth with unanswered shots, but couldn’t pull any closer than six.
