The West Side football team was well represented with 2A Fifth District all-conference football awards recently.

League coaches voted Pirates’ head coach Tyson Moser coach of the year.

Several players also earned awards including Trevor Montes, the senior running back who scored the overtime touchdown to send the Pirates to the state championship game.

He received the title of player of the year.

Senior Coby Roholt was defensive player of the year; senior Jake Lind was lineman of the year; and junior Jantz Ebanez was runningback of the year.

Nine other players from West Side were chosen for the all-conference first team.

“I think moving to West Side and playing football was the best decision I’ve made,” said Montes. “Not everyone can say that they’ve been involved in three district championships, a state championship and two third-place and one second-place trophy at state.
