With only one tournament remaining before the district tournament, the West Side wrestling team had a very busy week. The Pirates spent three days in the last week at wrestling tournaments. The Pirates went to a tournament at Rich County on Thursday. On Friday and Saturday they wrestled in an Aberdeen tournament.

This week they will go to Grace for the final match of the regular season. The district tournament will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

At Rich County, the eight boys on the varsity team all did very well. TJ Stokes, Taylor Beckstead, Andrew Valles and Derek Wedel all pinned their opponents.

Aberdeen’s wrestling matches were organized as a team dual tournament. Aberdeen was a good opportunity for the West Side wrestlers to get familiar with opponents they will be facing at the district and tournament. One of the Pirates, junior TJ Stokes wrestling at 106, went undefeated over the two-day competition.
