DAYTON – West Side’s boys’ basketball team notched its second win of the season with a landslide victory over Marsh Valley at home last Friday, Jan. 3. The Pirates won 67-38.
This momentum is sure to help in next week’s three home games. The Pirates will play their first district game against Aberdeen on Wednesday, followed by Preston and Rich County on Friday and Saturday.
Peyton Brown opened scoring with a two-point basket. From there the Pirates rolled, getting up 16- 0. The Eagles finally made an outside shot to put them on the board. The quarter ended 21-8.
Brown did not reappear in the second quarter due to a foot injury. Arguably the best play of this quarter was a tip in for two by Kaden Bingham.
In the third quarter, the Pirates scored 19. Eight of those were made by Wyatt Beckstead and seven by Jason Wade. The Pirates were up 51-32 to start the final quarter.
