DAYTON – The West Side girls’ basketball team lost on Saturday night to the Marsh Valley Eagles 60-39 in an extremely physical game.
Though it was another loss for the Pirates, they are now entering district play and can see how they compete. They will be traveling to Soda Springs on Thursday to face the Cardinals.
West Side’s defense proved tough early in the game against the Eagles. Ally Lemmon quickly blocked two shots. Later in the first quarter, Addie Cook blocked a three-point shot and Abbie Povey also had a block.
The Pirates struggled to set up an offensive play and Marsh Valley scored 12 points before Povey finally put points on the board. After that shot the Pirates caught up, finishing the quarter behind by only one 12-11.
After tying the score at 15 early in the second quarter, the Pirates lost offensive control again. West Side finished the half behind 27-20.
