With all the parties and celebrations on New Year’s Eve, Franklin County Chief Deputy Karen Hatch is asking for citizens to help keep the roads and highways safe by being vigilant and alert to impaired drivers. And for those attending parties where alcohol is served, be sure to call someone or use a designated driver rather than be behind the wheel.

“People should report drunk drivers to the Sheriff’s Office communication center at 208-852- 1234,” Hatch said. “We endorse what Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) said concerning driving during the holidays.”

ITD wants to reminds motorists to make this holiday season safer for everyone by choosing to not drive impaired.

ITD is partnering with Idaho law enforcement agencies statewide to make Idaho’s highways safer by making highway-safety funds available for additional impaired-driving education campaigns and high-visibility enforcement patrols through New Year’s Day.
