Property owners in Franklin County and across Idaho have until next Friday to pay their first-half, 2013 property tax payments.
The deadline is Friday, Dec. 20, at 5 p.m. The full property tax assessment bill has two deadlines for payments. The first half is due on Dec. 20 every year. The second half is due by June 20, said Treasurer Jeanette McKay.
“Payments have started coming into our office and things have been picking up. For whatever reason we have noticed a large number of folks mailing in their tax payments, which is just fine.
“We usually are the busiest the week prior to the Dec. 20 deadline,” she said. “To avoid delays at this busy time of year, I would suggest people come in now to take care of things.”
McKay said there is a new county website to accommodate residents who want to pay property taxes on-line.
“We instituted the website because some residents ask for it. There is a $1 charge for paying this way and monies collected for the convenience go to the company we have contracted with, not the county. It is www. franklincountyidaho. org” she said.
