Christmas carols will again ring out in Franklin County during this holiday season and help get residents in the Christmas mood. The Preston Rotary Christmas Choir will present its annual concert next month.
It will be held on Sunday, Dec.15, at 7 p.m. this year at the LDS chapel, 213 S. 200 East.
Co-director Carl Hoffman said this year is the 81st anniversary of continual concerts by the choir. This year we have over 60 people who will sing. The very first conductor of the choir was Harold Christensen, he said.
This year Anna Beth Olson will be a co-director. She recently returned to the area with her husband after serving an LDS mission. Tamara White will be the accompanist.
“The theme of this year’s performance will be, ‘How Far is it to Bethlehem,’” said Hoffman. “Music will be centered around the theme. We will have 13 songs with narration and some special numbers. We will have a cello solo and a flute duet.
“Past performances have been well attended and they just seem to set the mood for this extra-special time of year for many people. We expect this year’s performance to do the same.”
