A proposal to fund a study of a new industrial park location in Franklin County was made on Tuesday to Franklin County Commissioners by Kathy Ray, four-county economic development advisor.

The reason for the proposed study, according to Ray, is the current industrial park located on 800 West in Preston, is almost full.

“There just isn’t a lot of room left out there,” she told commissioners on Monday.

“When we try to encourage any type of manufacturing firm to Franklin County the first thing they inquire about is the industrial park.

“There’s not much I can tell them except that it’s almost full. That fact hurts economic development in Franklin County.”
