It’s a busy time of year for floral shops in Eastern Idaho and the rest of the country preparing for the holiday season.

Although Preston’s Edwards Floral at 74 E. 400 S. has been in business for over 60 years, Lee Hollingsworth and her family took over ownership of the store in the spring of 2012 and is going though her second go-around for the Christmas season.

She said it is a busy time for them.

“It’s all hands on deck,” Hollingsworth said. “We do a lot of deliveries and we need someone to drive and deliver flower arrangements to their destinations.”

Hollingsworth and her staff last Friday were preparing miniature ornaments for small Christmas trees, wreaths, centerpieces with colorful ornaments, bows and wrapping Poinsettias for customers while waiting on customers that came through the door.

Christmas is one of the busier times of year in the floral industry and it is the final push for the year’s bottom line. The industry may not be as busy as they are on one-day holidays like Memorial Day and Valentine’s Day, but the industry is busy for the month leading up to Christmas.
