DAYTON – West Side’s girls’ basketball season officially opened on Wednesday at home against the Firth Cougars and despite the Pirates’ efforts, they lost to the Cougars by 29 points. The final score was 58- 29.
The next game for the Pirates is on Friday, Nov. 22, at Bear Lake.
The starting lineup for the Pirates was Nikki Geddes, Stephanie Davis, Ally Lemmon, Mattie Creager and Addy Cook.
During the first quarter, the Pirates out-rebounded Firth and Creager scored four points. At the end of the quarter, the score was 18- 7 for Firth.
Early in the second quarter Creager got her third foul and sat out for the rest of the quarter. Lemmon scored nine points.
Firth continued a run and the score at the half was 33-18 for the Cougars.
During the third quarter, the Pirates hit a cold streak and only scored five. With a quarter left to go, West Side was down 49-23.
For the game Lemmon had 12 points, five rebounds, and three fouls. She also was a key player on defense, blocking several of Firth’s shots. Creager had 11, five rebounds and four fouls. Davis had six points, two rebounds, and two fouls. Izabella Graves had three rebounds.
