Joy Christensen was selected by the Preston School Board to join their ranks after Verl Christensen stepped down in October.
The new member of the school board said she felt like it was her time to serve. All of her children have been though or are going through the Preston school system.
“I have children in the high school, junior high and Oakwood,” Christensen said. “I have vested interest in the district, so I’m happy I can give back a little bit to the district.
Joy and her husband Clendon have five sons, one is serving a LDS mission to Nicaragua.
Christensen went to Snake River High School, graduated from Ricks College and continued her education earning a B.S. from Utah State University in English and technical writing.
“I’m excited to be part of the board and will do my best,” she said. “It will be a steep learning curve ahead of me, but I’m ready to give it my best effort.”
