The Preston Elks Lodge is sponsoring a free dinner to all veterans and their partner’s on Monday, Nov.11, in remembrance of Veteran’s Day, said co-ordinator Ralph West.
Other guests will be charged by donation. A roast-beef dinner, catered by the New York Deli, will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge.
Guest speaker will be Russell Madsen, who recently returned home after serving with the military in Iraq. Music will be provided by Kennedy Bingham, Franklin County’s 2012-13 Distinguished Young Woman.
West said it is important for those planning to attend to RSVP him at 221-2143 for a head count. He explained the caterer needs to have that count to make sure there is enough food prepared.
The Preston Elks Lodge has sponsored the Veteran’s Day dinner for the past 20 years, with West as co-ordinator for the past eight.
“We feel all veterans need to be honored for the great job they have done in serving their country and protecting our rights,” said West. “This is our tribute to them.”
