Joy Christensen was appointed to fill a position on the Preston School Board left vacant by Verl Christensen. She will be sworn in during the Nov. 20 meeting.
“There were five strong candidates who showed interest in the position,” said Preston School Superintendent Joel Wilson. “The board was really impressed by all of the candidates, but in the end, Christensen was chosen.”
A report by the head of the transportation department, Kevin Seamons, showed district busses travel about 150,000 miles a year picking up and dropping off students in the district. He also reported on the mileage of other vehicles used by the district.
The FFA club was approved for a trip to their Annual National Convention and Expo, held in Louisville, Ky.
The board received training on creating a positive school environment. The grievance and late start procedures were reviewed.
