West Side’s cross-country season ended last week at state competition on Saturday at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls.
The boys’ team won third place with a total of 97 points and Carlton Baird placed fourth individually.
Though the girls did not place, they showed great improvement over the last time they ran the same course earlier this season at the Tiger/Grizz Invitational.
At state, each girl beat their earlier Tiger/ Grizz times. Over the season, coach Stacey Olson focused on teaching each girl how to improve by working on the process.
Coach Joseph Grimm made sure his boys knew at the beginning of the season he expected them to win a trophy this year at state. And the end result was exactly that. Carlton Baird led the team this year and his time at state was 17:20.
