Franklin County Commissioners passed an ordinance that prohibits overnight parking of any vehicle in a county/merchant parking lot south of the courthouse.
Commissioner Scott Workman said this is a year-round ban on overnight parking. It takes effect on Wednesday (today).
“The main reason we passed this ordinance was to facilitate snow removal during winter months. But it will be in effect all year long,” he said.
In a related matter, Workman said the commission is looking at the possibility of opening a location at the Franklin County Fairgrounds for overnight semi-truck parking.
