West Side’s cross-country teams ran at their district meet Thursday on Soda Springs’ course. The girls’ and boys’ teams both took second at the meet, losing to Soda and beating Malad.

This also means both teams will be heading to state competition in Idaho Falls on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Going into the meet, coach Joseph Grimm knew the boys would most likely take second place as a team and he has been preparing for state. The boys will send eight of their runners.

Those who qualified are Carlton Baird, Ethan Porter, Zach Hatch, Nick Clawson, Brandon Olson, Skyler Bartholomew, Colton Robinson and Casey Jensen.

Zach Hatch said, “The cross-country team for West Side is inspirational. In our 10 athletes, we have only one senior. Despite our severe lack of age and experience, we fight the fiercest.
