The West Side volleyball team finished its season last week. The Pirates had district tournaments on last Tuesday and Wednesday at Malad and then played North Fremont in a play-in game at Highland High School.

It has been a difficult, rebuilding year for the volleyball team and though the girls did not make it to state, the school and the community are proud of them.

On Tuesday they played Soda Springs twice, winning both games. Then the Pirates had to play the Malad Dragons, a team they had never beat this year. Malad won the game in four matches.

The Pirates went back up against the Dragons on Wednesday. In order to win the district tournament, the Pirates had to beat Malad twice.

Since the Dragons had already won on Tuesday, they only needed to win one more game, and that is what happened.

West Side took second in district and lost to North Fremont in the play-in match.
