Clifton resident Randy Taylor began his business of selling nuts to convenience stores in 1997. His first sale was to Will-O-Way where Wellcome Mart is now.

The Nuts For You warehouse and office is at 1087 E. Sandcrest Dr. in Preston. Taylor said despite the challenges of the economy and other bumps in the road, Nuts for You, is showing the kind of promise he hoped it would from the beginning.

Today, Nuts For You is in 600 stores with several different combinations of nuts.

In the beginning Taylor’s nut company started with five or six different products, today he has over 200 items ranging from raw nuts to candy coated or chocolate peanuts, seeds and other tasty treats.

With the holidays coming, Nuts For You is already getting ready for the rush of customer orders.

“Holidays are always especially busy for us,” he said, “We have all kinds of different packages, including a diabetic tray customers like to use as gifts.”

In the beginning his primary business was the warm nuts in counter displays found at Flying J and other convenience stores. With Flying J alone he was moving about 50,000 pounds of nuts a year.

After awhile he needed to reinvent the business, so he got rid of the warming trays and began putting his product in bags on racks and offering a bigger variety.

“Now we have grown to 150,000 pounds of nuts a year,” Taylor said. “Most of the growth has come through internet marketing and his website.”

He has his products in all the Maverick stores a growing chain of gas and c-stores in nine states.

That alone has made Taylor’s company a big snacks player in the region.

Taylor has tried to market his snacks in a lot of different ways, he finds a lot of success in group buying. When he sends out a list and several people get together and buy in bulk then split the order up.

A real boost to the company came when Nuts For You got listed on Glenn Beck’s Market Place.
