Tyona Carter, a senior at Preston High School, is seeking community support for her senior project.
She has chosen to do a large fundraiser for The Ronald McDonald House. It is a house that allows patients at local hospital and their families to stay for a minimal fee.
Staying at the Ronald McDonald House helps families financially. Not only is food made for the families, it also has a large support system, and is mainly run by volunteers on donations.
“I was able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Salt Lake City the Christmas of 2008. A family came in early Christmas morning and made us breakfast before they would allow their children to celebrate Christmas,” Carter said. “We also had an amazing amount of presents from the house.”
She said the experience made her want to give back and be one of those wonderful people who helped her.
“The house receives money for pop tabs and soup tabs,” Carter said. “It would be so great to bring tabs you have collected, donate money or daily items, to the Preston football game on Oct. 15.
If you have any questions or would like to help in other ways, or are unable to go to the game, please call Tyona at (208) 852-2945.
