DAYTON – West Side’s Homecoming football game, on Thursday night against Bear Lake, was predicted to be a tough battle for the Pirates. But after a close first half, West Side was able to pull away and win 44-27.
The Pirates will be playing at Malad on Friday. Coaches and players both expect a good game with West Side’s longtime district rivals. Earlier this season, Malad lost to Bear Lake. So it should be exciting to see how that game goes.
West Side’s first possession ended with Jantz Ebanez running for 15 yards for a touchdown. The Bears were forced to punt in the next series and Ebanez returned the ball 74 yards to the end zone.
However, a penalty on the Pirates negated the touchdown. West Side then worked its way from midfield to the red zone where quarterback Peyton Brown scored the next touchdown.
Down 12-0, Bear Lake fought hard and scored with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Bear Lake’s kick was good, bringing the score to 12- 7. After West Side turned the ball over on downs, the Bears were able to make another touchdown making the score 13-12.
